Fishing Cabrera Style – Local Fisherman in Cabrera Dominican Republic

Cabrera Dominican Republic Fishing

Cabrera Dominican Republic Fishing

Hi, it’s Barry.  One of the things I like to do on lazy afternoons is go down to the local fisherman’s beach in Cabrera.  It seems the local fishermen are blessed with great catches of mahi mahi and tuna and a wide variety of other great eating fish almost every day.  It is amazing to me that they manage to pull in so many large fish on the equivalent of row boats with tiny outboard motors using hand lines.  No fancy poles, reels or other fishing tackle on that beach.  I took the camera down one afternoon just to capture a few of the scenes as several of the small boats brought their day’s catch in.  When you visit Cabrera Dominican Republic be sure and stop by to see for yourself.  Watch this video and see if it doesn’t make you want to go grab your pole and catch some fish yourself.

On this video are just a few scenes over about a 30 minute timeframe on a typical afternoon down at fisherman’s beach.

No shortage of fresh fish here every day, and the prices are unbelievably low.  You can often select your fish straight from the fisherman, or from one of the nearby fish vendors.  For now, it’s Barry in the DR.
