Inexpensive Organic Foods in Cabrera Dominican Republic

Cabrera Local Grocery for Organic Fruits and Vegetables

Cabrera Local Grocery for Organic Fruits and Vegetables

Hi again, it’s Barry.  If you have read many of my posts about Cabrera Dominican Republic, you have heard me mention how much healthier it is living a stress free life and eating the freshest, natural foods.  I have see expats that have relocated to Cabrera literally turn around lifelong chronic health problems in this place.  In future videos I will share a few interviews our staff did with expats on the health aspects of living in this little town.  But today, I would like to share a trip down the hill to the little comado (market) where we like to buy some of our organic vegetables and fruits.

In these videos Lianne, Judy (an expat) and one of our tour guests visit the comado just to see what is available and to compare prices with prices back home.  Because the Cabrera area is largely a farming and fishing village, much of what is sold in the comados is also grown or caught nearby and is always very fresh.  You will find that the fruits and vegetables are grown organically with very little if any use of fertilizers or pesticides.  If you’ve ever wondered whether you would lack for anything if you did live here, you definitely want to watch these videos. In the first video the ladies meet the owner of the comado and take a quick tour of what is available on the shelves today.

In this second video, the ladies get down to brass tacks and find out just how expensive (or inexpensive) these organic fruits and vegetables and other food products are.

Well, I think you will agree, the selection is large, the prices are low, and the whole shopping experience can be an adventure.  Trust me, you will never lack for anything that is good for you in this little piece of tropical paradise.  For now, it’s Barry in the DR.
