Future Expat – Does This Ring True To You

Not For Me Baby!!

Not For Me Baby!!

Hi guys, Barry in DR here.  I guess I receive at least one or two contact forms a day that read like the one I am about to share with you.  Of course I have masked any personal info, but I think you will be able to see whether it parallels any of your feelings.  Look, if you have been reading my posts for any time at all, you know that I am quite concerned with the direction the US, Canada and Europe are all headed.  These economies, built on the faulty foundation of a fiat currency with no solid underpinnings are headed for hard times.  I believe you will be experiencing the steady erosion of your liberties and freedom, as well as the value of your currency based assets.  Just look around at all of the attacks on your freedom that are underway, all in the name of “protecting you”.  To protect you from those evil entrepreneurs that want to take THEIR assets out of the country they want to grossly overtax assets leaving the country.  To protect you from those evil people with guns they want to limit your ability to purchase a gun or the number of bullets you can place in a gun and to force you to register any guns you may own. First register…. later confiscation???  To protect you from the temptation to avoid paying your taxes and from being fleeced by the evil hard asset folks, they want to force you to register any purchases and sales of silver and gold.  First register… later confiscation???

It’s all kind of troubling.  As you read the contact form I received below, one of the many similar contact forms I receive each week… see if you don’t share just a little of the frustration and trepidation expressed.  I suspect, like many, this gentleman will find his safe haven outside the US.  Maybe it will be on the north coast of the Dominican Republic or maybe it will be in some other hideaway, but I have no doubt that he will find that better life.

My name is xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I am a xx year old male living in xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.  I am reaching out to you today because I am very interested in immigrating to Cabrera, Dominican Republic and I just have some simple practicality questions I hope you can answer.

First, let me start by describing myself and my situation.  I am a single xx year old able bodied male from xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.  I have a bachelors degree in Finance and Economics from xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx University.
I have no contagious diseases of any kind and I have a 100% clean record with the law.  I work at xxx-StockBrokerage-xxx as a Financial Advisor and am a licensed stock broker.

I became aware of you and your wonderful site because I am a very active member of the silver/liberty community.  After 4 years of studying economics/finance at college and thousands of hours of personal time spent studying Austrian Economics and monetary history, it is apparent to me that this giant experiment of worldwide fiat paper money is coming to an end.  I have been preparing my family and finances for the end of the dollar for 3 years now and amassed quite the stockpile of food, water, and weapons as well as honing my survival skills.  I have also been vigorously saving funds in the forms of physical silver and cash.

Even with all of the economic incentives to find safety, it is not the main reason I am interested in immigrating to the Dominican Republic.  The main driver of my interest in Cabrera is my urge to live like a human being.  Right now I live like a slug; like an inanimate object.  I wake up early every day and sit in stop and go traffic for an hour until I finally get to the office.  Then I sit in my dimly lit office for 9 hours a day where I work as xxx-StockBrokerage-xxx thief and legally steal from client’s retirement accounts through fees and investing client’s funds in poor investments we sponsor.  After my “work” day is done, I drive home and sit in another hour of bumper to bumper traffic until I get home where I watch an hour of television until I fall asleep.  I get up the next day to do it all over again.  This is not how a human life is supposed to be lived and I reject it.  It is very taxing morally and I don’t want it.  The shallow and materialistic lifestyle here in the States is not for me.  That is why Cabrera is so enticing to me.  I’d love the opportunity to relocate to a smaller community with a very friendly population, a slower pace of life, and where I can hopefully start some sort of business where I actually provide value to people instead of stealing from people who I will never even meet.  I’d also love to learn the culture and the language and to build a close relationship with the locals and the fellow expats.  I just feel like Cabrera and the Dominican Republic offer what I’ve been looking for in life for a long time

Can’t you just hear and feel the frustration he shares of his impersonal, rat-race based existence.  I am sure he is quite successful at his profession and at least financially is “living the dream”.  The problem is that he is waking up to the fact that the foundation of that “dream” is no more solid than the foundation of the collapsing fiat currencies.  It sounds to me that what he is seeking is a different kind of “foundation”.  One built on the pillars of personal relationships, self-sustainablity, community and hard assets.  We happened to find our “foundation” on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.  If you share some of the angst that this guy does, where will you find your “foundation”?  Again I say, sure, come check out the north coast of the Dominican Republic in the Cabrera area.  You’ll probably like it, but if you don’t, that’s fine…. for God’s sake… find somewhere to plant your roots outside of your home country. It’s off to another Discovery Tour.  Busy week.  For now, it’s Barry in the DR.

Thanks John, I appreciate the way you both live as I know what you are saying is truth. Comming from England several years ago and connecting with some of your past stories. It’s a real shame that belief and fear rule so many. All we can do is keep trying to show that there are options all over the world. Inevitably, man’s nature catches up with him. When the average citizen gets too fat, dumb and dependent on the state, their priority shifts from seeking wisdom to running after pleasure and this becomes the turning point of a nation.
Stay blessed Your Family in Cabrera
