Expats Guide To The Dominican Republic – New Videos

Expats Guide To Dominican Republic

Expats Guide To Dominican Republic

Hi Guys, Barry in DR.  We are starting a new “Expats Guide To the Dominican Republic” series of videos on a variety of topics.  We routinely are asked a wide ranging number of questions about this little safe haven in the islands so we thought it might be helpful to all to put together a series of videos to answer a few more of those questions and give you a little better perspective of this home we know as Cabrera Dominican Republic.

We’ll start out with a  little more generalized history of the island, then move into the climate and weather related information.  Along the way we will also introduce you to some more of the activities in the area, some of the hidden jewels on the backroads and some more of those incredibly friendly Dominican people we run into along the way.  Some of the videos will be more of the slide show type of videos because the content lends itself to that kind of presentation.  For example, in the history videos, it is kinda hard for me to grab my video camera and catch Columbus landing on the island in 1492 and setting up the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the new world. 🙂

I plan to produce and post one or two videos every few days and I hope you will follow along.  After all, if you have any thoughts of having a second home or a new safe haven home in another country it can’t hurt to understand the history, culture and nuances of the country you are considering.  In fact understanding the people and why they think the way they do is probably more important than all the beautiful ocean views and rolling hills you will see here.  The Dominicans, especially those in and around Cabrera, have a close kinship to expats and you are welcomed like no other island in the Caribbean.

If you have not already subscribed to our Youtube channel you definitely may want to do it because it is one way to keep up with the new videos as they are posted.  To subscribe to our Youtube channel all you have to do is go here and click on the SUBSCRIBE button and follow whatever instructions you are given.

Now, lets get started with an introduction and a little history.

EARLY HISTORY

In the next video we will tell you about the TWO times that the United States occupied the Dominican Republic and explain why the last occupation was especially beneficial for American expats moving to or investing in the Dominican Republic.  You will not want to miss it.

For now, it’s Barry in DR.

Thanks bud. They’re just starting to be released. I think everyone including myself will gain some knowledge and that’s what it’s all about.

Barry great job!!! They are so informative and really give a quick but thorough history of the island and are very interesting. I really hope that all who have visited or are planning to visit, take advantage of this great compilation of information. You have made it so easy to be informed of this beautiful area.

Thanks Denise, Appreciate the comment. What saddens me is that people will still listen to their media and might veer off course in looking for a second place to reallocate or a possible escape route. I can’t understand how people still continue to misinform themselves so badly. For example people will listen to sites that haven’t got a clue about this whole region rather than connecting with someone like you who’s lived here for many years. Being a woman living here one would think just might inspire all the ladies who might be looking for real accurate information about what it’s like living here from a woman’s point of view. Instead they’ll rely on some all-inclusive one week expert who just seems to know the entire 22,000 square mile country all without ever leaving the resort that just happens to be three to seven hours away from our region. Amazing comprehension these experts have being able to do this with any sense of accuracy .
Why is it if you tell a person the universe has 25 billion stars they’ll believe you, but tell them a bench has wet paint and they have to touch it. ????????? Go and figure?
