Raising Young Kids In Cabrera – Tennessee Expats Speak Out

Tennessee Expat Kids Adapt Well To Cabrera

Tennessee Expat Kids Adapt Well To Cabrera

We’re back with Shawn and Kelly, the young Tennessee expat family on a mission in Cabrera Dominican Republic.  Many Americans and Canadians are understandably concerned about packing their family and young kids up and moving to a foreign country.  Are the schools ok?  What about learning a new language?  Will the kids adapt and feel like they fit in?  And most importantly, will our family be happy we made the move?

We can’t really answer that for your family.  Only you can.  But we can share the experience of other families that have tried it and let them tell you themselves what they like or dislike about the experience.  One common theme I think you will hear, and you will hear it in this video interview of Shawn and Kelly, is that the kids adapt quickly and are happy their family made the move.  They certainly will be better prepared to excel in the business and adult world with fluent multilingual skills and a multicultural awareness.

In this video, Shawn and Kelly talk a little about their experience with the schools and how readily the kids adapted to all the changes.  The kids even get a chance to tell us what they think about a move outside the U.S. and whether they like it.

If you are concerned about how your family will fit in, I am sure Shawn and Kelly would be happy to talk to you about their experience and help you out any way they can.  If you do come down, you may even decide to roll up your sleeves and help Shawn and Kelly in their mission to help local families.  It feels pretty good to work with the kids and help local families, and you will find you become part of their families.
