Sustainable Organic Farm Wrap-up

We hope you enjoyed our little Sunday tour of one of the local sustainable organic farms in the hills overlooking Cabrera and the coast. I hope now you understand just a little better why I am so convinced that any expats that choose to live here should never go hungry or lack for a source of fresh water no matter what the world economies do and no matter whether the power grid and fossil fuels halt or not. This is true sustainable organic farming done by hand in fertile soils with gravity fed irrigation…. just like it has been done for hundreds of years here.

In today’s video we take a moment to recap what we learned from our organic farm tour and to express a little thanks that we have found our paradise. It is certainly not perfect for everyone, but pretty darn close for our family.

If you happened to miss either of the previous posts where we put feet on ground at the farm, be sure and check out:

In our opinion, what small rural villages on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic like Cabrera lack in conveniences (Walmarts, shopping centers, multiplex theaters, expensive restaurants, etc) they more than make up with abundant, affordable, un-engineered organic foods, the freshest seafoods, grass fed beef and free ranging poultry.  Meeting and engaging with caring neighbors is pretty nice too.

I do hope you will find time in 2015 to get down here and see this place for yourself.  If you need constant hustle and bustle and need to be constantly entertained, then maybe it will not be right for you.  But if you would like to regain some of the warmth and charm of a much simpler and healthier life, then maybe this will be the place for you.  I like to call Cabrera ….  Mayberry with Internet, referring to the simpler lifestyle on the Andy Griffith TV Show that played so many years in America.

Take us up on one of our free North Coast Discovery Tours…. worse case you have a fun learning vacation like you probably haven’t experienced before.  Best case, maybe you will find you own escape.

For now, it’s Barry in the DR.
