The Sun is Always Shining Above the Clouds

When I mention a storm front I really do mean a storm front. Non-stop rain for three days!

When I mention a storm front I really do mean a storm front. Non-stop rain for three days!

I’m sitting here thinking on a day that many would describe as being miserable. We’ve had nothing but hard steady rain for two days now. However from my perspective it’s a beautiful day and even though we’re stuck inside, I’ll attempt to explain why. There’s an old saying “the sun is always shining above the clouds” and it’s true.
For us residing in this region rain is everything. Since a large part of our region’s water comes from gravity fed canal systems it literally keeps us afloat (pun intended). It allows for plenty of fresh grass to grow which of course feeds the free ranging livestock. It nourishes all of our fruits and vegetables that grow in abundance and it even allows for plenty of insects for the chickens to gather their protein. As I mentioned in my interview with Dmitry Orlov “it may sound crazy but if it rains everything else will work out fine”. If you remember his response was that doesn’t sound crazy at all.

Never again all on the same arrival or seperate trips!! Was Nust trying to arrange the Pick ups and Drop offs.

The last six weeks have been nothing short of working harder than a one armed wall paper hanger. Just said goodbye to the last couple on a group tour that involved three different arrival and departure dates. Let me tell you I won’t be doing that again. But now other than lawyer appointments for the folks wanting to secure something I’ll have a bit of time… time to catch up with my personal life, things around the house and even releasing a new post or two.
Maria our immigration specialist popped on by to have a weekend visit along with her Husband. Seems they too needed to unwind as well. For Maria there’s no other place like Cabrera when it comes to unwinding and even swears that she is in a much deeper sleep while here. As we forewarned Maria some time ago as events start developing and becoming more undeniable to the masses you’ll start noticing two distinct changes. First market volatility will start to spike in a more aggressive manor and second a sharp uptick in folks that were sitting on the fence post will commit to hiring your services. Seems we were correct on both.
Was chatting about the Swiss breaking away from the peg to the Euro and who ever heard of a currency as large as the Canadian Dollar swaying almost 11% in just a few days’ time? I invite you to go back into my archives and re-read my post “what do the markets and a spinning top have in common” and learn from it. If you do you’ll see it’s presently occuring almost to the word. Written almost two years prior and currently developing right now in front of your eyes for those of you who have them opened. If not it’s a major OUCH!!! for so many regardless of ones current wealth.

Hey off the subject and just for shits and giggles you may want to follow this over the next couple of years and see how it plays out. This next statement is certainly not to be considered any financial advice of any kind but if I were still playing with paper markets I might soon be  looking at purchasing HK Dollars. You’ll see in a year or two they too will follow suit and should break the peg only from the USD. Similar to what the Swiss Franc recently did with the Euro. When they do if you think the short termed 32% uptick in the Swiss Franc was strong… well this one I’m thinking it might be closer to forty… But remember similar to the Franc you need to time it correctly and exit fast to maximize.

Mama Grey and part of the new crew.

So what else is new since my last post? Well Liane and I are once again proud parents of a handful of new baby chicks. Seems that mama grey had the urge to sit on a few eggs again. Liane’s auyama is doing great and there’s several growing all around the house. The Culantro (not Cilantro) is starting to look like weeds growing again but soon will be in some of our favorite dishes. The flavor of Culantro is very similar to Cilantro only a bit stronger. Oh yea it’s been about 10 months now and puppy even though that’s her real name is no longer a puppy. Pretty soon she’ll be off to college and out of the home on her own. NOT!

That’s about it for now but I might consider holding on to a couple of things over the near future. First and most important is your ass and secondly your assets, cause it’s going to be a wild ride starting from the next few months going forward. You all knew this was coming and more times than I can remember were told to keep late 2015 to mid-2016 freshly in your mind. Your sand is passing rapidly through the hourglass and I shit you not!

Culantro Looks like typical garden weeds only a whole lot better tasting.

For all of you old enough to know who Old Blue Eyes is (linked below beautifully worded and so true at least in my life) “My Friend, I’ll say it clear, I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain. I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption. I planned each charted course. Each careful step along the byway. And more much more than this I did it MY WAY! But through it all when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and I stood tall; and did it MY WAY! The record shows I took the blows and did it MY WAY!!” And I pray that you are strong enough to do the same. It’s a shit job but as they say someone’s got to do it. Until next time this is Barry in DR.

My Way Recommend everyone listen to at least once.

Hey Barry great to see your comments again after your very busy time with visitors. I was one of those fence sitters who now is taking concrete action towards residency. As you know it was one of your last phone conversations with me that was the final straw to get me moving. I would call it a kind of a tough love frank assessment of me diddly-daddling. I really appreciate the bluntness. Sometimes we need a kick in the ass to jump start ourselves. I know Maria’s really busy because I don’t get an email response from her for a week or so but that’s alright. I’m not the only one doing this. I know from people I’ve talked to she’ll get the job done just right. I realize now that for all those fence sitters you better jump off soon. Who knows it may be next to impossible by next year to get residency if the amount of applicants turns into a flood. At that point I will feel sorry for you, Barry. You’ll be as busy as that proverbial one-armed wall paper hanger.

Your friend,
Gary

Thanks Gary. That’s why some like the way i come across and others don’t and I’m really fine with that because others don’t determine who or what anybody else is. It just means that they need to judge others. Most people would rather hear what sounds good rather than hearing the truth. If it happens to be that the truth sounds good then that’s fine but if not… Well they don’t want to know. You’d be surprised at how many of my subscribers are faced with this issue between spouses. One understanding and the other not. Funny thing though seems that 100% of the time the one who is not on board offers nothing more than an opinion while the other side just happens to be the only one doing any hardcore research. Oh well it is what it is and I guess you can’t have much of a revolution without a substantial amount of casualties. Nothing changes but the Technology.
