Cabrera Digs Out After Brush With Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma Leaves Cabrera With Some CleanupWe were fortunate in Cabrera Dominican Republic because we only received a glancing blow from Hurricane Irma as it passed along the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. Actually we may have taken a little heavier blow in our house with about 5 trees down, including a major limb off of a huge bread fruit tree in our front yard. It took down some power lines, but we were back up within the day.

We are finally able to get out on the road and check out just how badly the town of Cabrera got hit. As you will see in the video, there are some trees down. There are some signs blown off their posts. And of course there are some down power lines. But overall, except for the more primitive wooden homes with tin roofs, there was very little actually damage to most of the town. Glad to hear and see that you and your wife are fine Barry. You and everyone that we’ve met through your videos were on our minds. Thanks for the first hand evidence of the ‘after-Irma’, it is something that crosses our mind.
